Grimes, Elon Musk's estranged ex, is sharing her thoughts about X, the social media platform owned by Musk. Following a social media break, Grimes returned to the platform to share her thoughts on social media as a whole and some of the pitfalls that affect users' lives.
"Ok I've basically been entirely off social media and returning here it is overwhelmingly, abundantly and profoundly clear that this place - and all of these places - are a poison - a prison of utterly short form deep deep-sounding nonsense attached to no one that ur brain will discard imaging its learning," wrote Grimes in an X post. "The entire thing is a theatre."
She continued by writing that she found social media "very unhealthy." "It feels like a ghost town of depression, bitterness, and pictures of beautiful women doing sext things," Grimes wrote.
"I feel like this is a massive moral failure of all the apps. And it's causing great harm to society."
Grimes and Musk share three kids: X Æ A-Xii, 4, Exa Dark Sideræl, 3, and Techno Mechanicus, 3.
What happened between Grimes and Musk?
Grimes and Musk were involved in an on-and-off relationship from 2018 to 2013. Over the past years, the pair has struggled publicly on various issues, including the way in which their kids are being raised.
In February of this year, after their son X was photographed and recorded in the White House alongside Donald Trump and Musk, Grimes shared her disappointment on X. "He should not be in public like this," she wrote. "I have tried begging the public and my kid's dad to keep them offline, and I've tried legal recourse."
She continued to express her disappointment and frustration over there being no legal recourse for her to turn to in a situation like the one she was going through. "I would hope there was some law that would allow a parent to veto small children from living public lives but I don't even trust the law to help me now if I tried to invoke it," she wrote.
Grimes asked her followers to stop spreading photos of her son online.
