Cazzu has dropped a new record, sharing one of the most transformative chapters of her life with her followers. Filled with songs that explore heartbreak, her identity as a Latin woman, and different song genres, the record is called "Latinaje" and also features her first official song about her daughter. Appropriately titled "Inti," the song puts us in Cazzu's headspace as she deals with many of the complex emotions triggered by motherhood.
"Latinaje" is made up of 14 songs, with "Inti" coming in at the 11th spot on the tracklist. The song explores Cazzu's complex feelings regarding motherhood, including the fact that she never saw herself as a mother until she had Inti.
"I never dreamt you/ I never saw myself as what I am now/ What I am today/ I'm your mommy forever," read her lyrics in Spanish. "I've never seen an angel/ No, an angel never looked at me/ Until you looked at me."
Cazzu also explores some of the most painful feelings of motherhood. "You awoke in me the darkest fears/ I fear so much losing you that I feel like I already lost you/ I ask a God I don't understand that he doesn't make you suffer."
More details about 'Latinaje'
"Latinaje" appears to be Cazzu's most personal record to date, and her first release since she became a mother. It's also filled with cultural moments from Fraile Pintado, an Argentine town of Andean roots.
“I [needed to] highlight the Andean roots of the region,” said Cazzu in an interview with the Los Angeles Times. "Because when we talk about the sound of Latin America, we hardly consider those places and they have such precious music.”
Through her interview, she also opened up about her split from Christian Nodal and his notorious marriage to Ángela Aguilar, and the moment she decided to come clean about her feelings on the podcast "PLP."
“I think the hardest moment there was knowing that saying something to assert my dignity would have consequences for other people, and that wasn’t my intention," she said. “But I knew it wasn’t my responsibility either."
