Clarkson and Rodríguez praised the film for its old-school appeal, with Clarkson sharing that it reminded her of movies like "Air Force One" and "Die Hard." Rodríguez said that "G20" provided those old-school thrills with a fun modern twist.

"We don't see them with a beautiful black female president kicking butt. She's fierce," he said, praising Davis and prompting claps and cheers from the audience.

He revealed that his character is a part of her security detail. "I play her lead Secret Service agent as if I need to protect her. She can handle herself just fine. She's the 'Woman King,'" he said, referring to Davis' recent film, where she played an African warrior from the 1800s and did many of her action stunts.

Rodríguez's role as 'man of the house'

Elsewhere in the interview, Rodriguez opened up about his experience growing up, where he played the role of the "man of the house" when he was nine years old.

"They put me to work!" he said, referring to a photo of himself as a little boy, where he's seen painting the walls of his New York City apartment. "My mom and my three sisters, they were like 'You're the man of the house, paint the house,'" he said, prompting laughs from the audience.

"I did feel a responsibility growing up. Just as the only man in the house. And I felt like I had to protect my house," he said. Then he added with a laugh, "My apartment. My studio apartment on the Lower East Side."
