Royals have extended their congratulations to President Donald Trump on his return to the White House. King Charles, 76, is among the monarchs who has congratulated the 47th President of the United States. According to HOLA! USA's sister brand HELLO!, Prince William and Prince Harry's father sent a personal message of congratulations to the president, which is understood to have touched on the enduring relationship between the UK and the US.
First Lady Melania Trump revealed in her self-titled memoir that they've kept in touch with King Charles, whom they met with on more than one occasion during President Trump's first term. In her book, the first lady shared "our friendship with the Royal Family continues, and we exchange letters with King Charles to this day."
Following the inauguration on Monday, the Danish Royal House released a message from King Frederik of Denmark to "The Honorable Donald J. Trump President of the United States of America." In his message, the Danish King wrote, "On the occasion of your inauguration on January 20th, 2025, as the 47th President of the United States of America, I wish to express my sincere congratulations and best wishes for yourself, your family and for the people of the United States of America."
King Harald V of Norway also sent a congratulatory message to the president. Translated to English, it read, "Your Excellency, On the occasion of your inauguration as the 47th President of the United States of America, I am sending you my warmest congratulations on behalf of myself and the people of Norway, and my hopes for the welfare and prosperity of the American people."
On X, King Abdullah II of Jordan wished "President Donald Trump every success as he commences his second term." His Majesty added, "Congratulations on your inauguration, Mr. President. We greatly value our partnership with the United States and are committed to working with you towards a more prosperous and peaceful world."
Four days before the inauguration, King Abdullah's wife, Queen Rania, met with First Lady Melania Trump in Palm Beach, Florida. Her Majesty's office revealed that during the meeting, which was hosted by Melania, the Queen and first lady "discussed various issues of mutual interest, including children’s welfare, as well as improving their education."
The day after their reunion, Rania shared a photo of herself and the first lady sitting across from each other in conversation. Alongside the picture, the Queen wrote: "It was a pleasure reconnecting with incoming U.S. First Lady Melania Trump in Florida yesterday #Jordan #USA #Florida."
