Princess Leonor and Infanta Sofia have been connected to Real Madrid for an unexpected reason. After the prestigious Spanish team signed a new player, the daughters of King Felipe and Queen Letizia of Spain began to trend alongside the news.

Real Madrid's new signing involves the 19-year-old Swedish player Bella Andersson, who's signed on to the Spanish team for the next four seasons, with her contract expiring in June 2029.

Andersson was presented alongside a video of her, showing her response to being welcomed to one of the world's most prestigious soccer clubs. "It's surreal," said Andersson in a video that showed her walking through the club, having a look at the trophies, and holding up her Real Madrid jersey. "It was an easy choice to come here and I'm really excited."

The video quickly went viral, with many drawing comparisons between Andersson and the Spanish royal daughters.

"For a minute, I thought we had signed the Infanta," wrote a user. Other users compared her to Princess Leonor, who is also 19 years old, or said that Bella looked like a mix of the two siblings. While it's unlikely we'll ever see Princess Leonor or Infanta Sofia play soccer for Real Madrid, the two are fans of the sport and have shown their support for Spain on previous occasions.

Over the weekend, the sisters showed their encouragement for the Spanish women's soccer team, cheering them on after the team made it to the finals of the Eurocup.

While Spain ultimately lost in a penalty shootout against England, Princess Leonor and Infanta Sofia were there to offer their support, dropping by the Spanish locker room to celebrate them and cheer them on. A video captured the moment the princess and the infanta stopped by the locker rooms, giving a brief speech and clapping for the athletes.

"Congratulations," said Princess Leonor.
