Kensington Palace has issued a statement regarding information about the Princess of Wales' clothing. In a statement shared with HOLA! USA on Tuesday, a Kensington Palace spokesperson said, “Over the last week, I have received numerous questions about a story regarding The Princess of Wales’s clothing and how Kensington Palace shares information about her outfits."

"To clarify, the comments that appeared in the article were from me, not The Princess of Wales. The comments that were reported should not be directly attributed to The Princess of Wales," the spokesperson added. “To be clear, there has been no change in our approach to sharing information about Her Royal Highness’s clothing.”

The statement follows an article published by The Sunday Times on Feb. 1, titled "Princess of Wales: Focus on my work not my wardrobe." The outlet reported that "in a move signalling her wish for the focus to be on her work not her wardrobe, Kensington Palace will no longer release details of her outfits."

The Sunday Times also quoted a palace source, who said, "There is an absolute feeling that it [the public work] is not about what the princess is wearing. She wants the focus to be on the really important issues, the people and the causes she is spotlighting. There will always be an appreciation of what the princess is wearing from some of the public and she gets that. But do we need to be officially always saying what she is wearing? No. The style is there but it’s about the substance.”

The outlet noted in the article that the move would "be seen as part of a shift in Kate’s approach to her public work since being diagnosed with cancer."

The Princess announced in early September that she had completed her chemotherapy treatment, and revealed last month that she is now in remission. In a personal message following her first public engagement of 2025, Catherine said, "It is a relief to now be in remission and I remain focussed on recovery. As anyone who has experienced a cancer diagnosis will know, it takes time to adjust to a new normal. I am however looking forward to a fulfilling year ahead. There is much to look forward to. Thank you to everyone for your continued support."

Her Royal Highness has undertaken multiple engagements this year. The Princess was out on Tuesday, Feb. 11, visiting a Mother and Baby Unit inside of HMP Styal. Catherine, who is patron of Action for Children, visited the prison and young offender institution for women "to highlight the importance of strong, loving and consistent mother and baby relationships to a child’s development, even in the most challenging of environments." And just last week, the Princess joined school children at the National Portrait Gallery to launch a new project—The Bobeam Tree Trail—from The Royal Foundation Centre for Early Childhood.
