Peso Pluma has made fashion history as the Council of Fashion Designers of America’s (CFDA) first Mexican ambassador for New York Fashion Week. The Guadalajara-born singer will help kick off the Spring/Summer 2026 season in New York alongside Thom Browne, Michael Kors, and Anna Sui, marking a milestone that cements his influence far beyond music.
Mexican music seems to be living its brightest moment, with major stars taking it to audiences around the world. Among the genres that have captured the hearts of listeners, regional mexicano and corridos tumbados stand out as the most popular right now. And if there is one artist who has made the most of this cultural boom, it is Peso Pluma.
The 26-year-old singer has become one of the most powerful cultural figures of his generation, bridging the worlds of sound and style.
According to Billboard, he is praised for putting “música Mexicana at the center of one of fashion’s most influential stages, highlighting his impact beyond music as a style leader and cultural trailblazer.”
Peso Pluma’s NY Fashion Week role
Fashion Week in cities like Paris, Milan, and New York has long been one of the most important platforms for the industry’s most influential designers. In just a few days, the Spring/Summer 2026 edition will begin in the Big Apple, where some of the season’s most standout collections will be unveiled.
Peso has already appeared at major fashion events, including Thom Browne’s show earlier this year, and was named ambassador for YSL’s fragrance MYSELF.
Now he is taking another major step in his fashion career with this historic CFDA announcement, revealed live from Rockefeller Center. He joins a roster of fashion luminaries and ambassadors like Anok Yai and Young Miko, helping to shape a more forward-looking and multicultural vision of style.
Another key moment for Peso will be his participation in NYFW Live, a platform presented by Genesys that streams runway shows to audiences everywhere from September 11 through September 16. His presence reinforces the growing role of Mexico, its artists, and its culture across global industries like music and fashion.
A rising star shaping global culture
Peso Pluma first rose to fame in 2022 with a viral TikTok video and a Spotify hit El Belicón, featuring MC Raul Vega. Its success paved the way for his global smash Ella Baila Sola in 2023, which cemented him as a leader of the música Mexicana wave.
Now ranked number three on Billboard’s Top Latin Artists of 2024, Peso has headlined major U.S. festivals including Coachella and Rolling Loud California. Signed to CAA and managed by George Prajin, he has scored 25 top 10 hits on Billboard’s Hot Latin Songs chart, along with 33 entries on the Billboard Hot 100.
The “La Bebé” singer is set to continue his cultural takeover with a performance at ComplexCon 2025 in Las Vegas on October 25.
