It’s true that every wardrobe contains at least one accessory that transcends time, trends, and fashion cycles: the belt.

This versatile piece is intimately tied to our bodies—both functional and emotional, bridging utility and aesthetics.

It evolved from being a practical item to appearing in the best-selling collections of luxury brands, not only cinching waists but also transforming into tops and handbags (as in the case of the iconic Hermès).

On a bad day, you might cinch it  tighter; on a good day, you’ll let it hang loose. Either way, the belt is an ally that makes any look shine.

Throughout fashion history, belts have taken on different positions on the body to tell stories: strictly at the waist or slightly lower on the hips. It is always there, even  the lack of wearing a belt is a fashion statement.

Now, we turn to the belt trends that ruled this year’s runways, showing you how to make the most of yours from morning to night. Let’s dive in!

Skinny belt

When we talk about skinny belts, quiet luxury instantly comes to mind: elegant and sophisticated.

Here, the golden rule applies, less is more. Though small in size, they can make a strong impact through texture and color.

Olivia Palermo completes her look with a metallic belt that wraps around her silhouette and stylizes it.

If you have a simple dress that craves a small detail, this is the perfect option. Just be careful not to overlap textures and colors in a risky way, unless, of course, that’s your clear and confident intention.

Cowboy Style: Take a Ride!

The strongest phenomenon of the past year has undoubtedly been the cowboy style, and the belt is at the heart of it.

It stands out with bold buckles and metalwork that command attention.

We asked Anna Jones, a young belt designer from Dallas what she thinks about this trend. "Being from Texas, I absolutely love that others are really embracing western clothing." She explained that classic pieces like cowboy boots and a western belt give an extra confidence and presence.

“Cowboy boots and a western belt always add a level of confidence, a swagger to my walk. Double denim and a cowgirl double buckle belt is my go-to look for fall!”

She also points out that double denim paired with a statement cowgirl-style double buckle belt is her signature outfit when the fall season arrives.

It stands out with bold buckles and metalwork that command attention. Got a T-shirt and a pair of basic jeans? Then investing in a cowboy-style belt is all you need to turn it into a chic and daring outfit, bringing a touch of the Wild West into your everyday life.

In this case, mixing different chain and metal finishes works perfectly, and leather remains another key element of this trend.

Dua Lipa always chic, she enhances her look with a top and a belt with metallic details.

In fact, recently, a wave of celebrities has embraced the cowboy aesthetic. Bella Hadid is leaning fully into the lifestyle, from her fashion choices to horseback riding and even dating a real-life Mexican cowboy, while Kendall Jenner and Dua Lipa have seamlessly woven western-inspired pieces into their street-style essentials.

Maxi Belts

In contrast to skinny belts, oversized belts occupy a powerful place in the silhouette, defining and shaping it in a bold and decisive way.

Their resemblance to the corset is crystal clear, and the principle is the same (without breaking any ribs): altering posture while allowing these “half-garments” to play visibly and dramatically with the look.Materials vary, but leather and metal consistently take center stage.

Multiple Belts: Layering

One of the strongest trends of recent times is layering textures, colors, and shapes, and belts couldn’t be left behind.

Got several belts and can’t decide which one to wear?

This is your perfect excuse to wear more than one. Mix and match without fear. Still, it’s smart to look at examples, because pulling it off isn’t always as easy as it seems.

The most successful combinations usually come from pairing items close in tone and texture, but different enough to create subtle contrast.

Metallic Belts, Rock!

There’s a magical universe where a belt can double as a necklace, and bracelets blur boldly into waistlines and outfits.
