The lights dimmed, the crowd roared, and Maluma, Colombia’s global superstar, took over Mexico City’s legendary Palacio de los Deportes on Wednesday, August 6, kicking off three nights of pure music euphoria. Part of his wildly successful “+Pretty +Dirty World Tour,” these shows were a love letter to the fans who’ve been riding with him since his first hits.

From the moment he stepped on stage, it was clear this wasn’t going to be just another tour stop. The venue pulsed with energy as thousands of voices sang every lyric, creating a shared heartbeat between artist and audience. With August 6, 8, and 9 all selling out in record time, Maluma’s relationship with Mexico proved to be more than just professional.

A Special Bond With Mexico

“Mexico, we’re here. We’ve started rehearsals for the tour in a country so loved, so cherished, that has given us so much joy,” Maluma said in a video posted to his social media before the first show.

And it’s mutual. The second tickets went on sale, fans moved fast. Hours later, all three dates were gone. Maluma’s reaction was pure joy: “Thank you so much for these three sold-out shows at the Palacio de los Deportes. We’re making history, guys.”

In the days leading up to opening night, the singer couldn’t hide his excitement. On Instagram, he posted a photo of himself wearing a traditional charro hat with the caption: “When they tell me we’re 7 days away from the tour in MEXICO.” The post lit up with likes and comments from fans counting down the hours.

What Fans Experienced on Opening Night

The first show officially kicked off at 9:00 PM, but the anticipation started long before. The Palacio de los Deportes, located in the Iztacalco area, began welcoming fans early, with security recommending arrivals between 7:00 and 8:00 PM to avoid last-minute rushes. The metro stations Velódromo and Ciudad de los Deportes (both on Line 9) were buzzing with fans dressed in glitter, leather, and tour merch.

Once inside, the stage design screamed arena spectacle with massive LED screens, laser lights, pyrotechnics, and a catwalk that brought Maluma closer to his people. Promoter Ocesa said the setlist was stacked with over 30 songs, blending new hits and old favorites.

While each night may bring slight changes, fans could expect to hear global anthems like “Hawái,” “Felices los 4,” “Sobrio,” “Corazón,” and “Borro Cassette.” Each track had a visual story, making the concert a cinematic experience.

The Energy That Won’t Quit

Maluma’s charisma is his superpower. Between songs, he talked to the crowd like he was catching up with friends, sharing stories, throwing kisses, and even taking a moment to thank his band and dancers. His mix of romantic ballads and high-energy reggaeton kept the audience on its feet for nearly two hours.

After Mexico City, Maluma’s tour will continue across Latin America, the US, and Europe, bringing his blend of smooth vocals, bold style, and stage mastery to fans worldwide. But these three nights in Mexico will go down as one of the tour’s emotional high points, a chapter where the love between artist and country took center stage.

If the rest of the tour follows the magic of these opening nights, Maluma’s “+Pretty +Dirty World Tour” won’t just be a success, it’ll be the stuff of pop culture legend.
