Taylor Swift may have lined up her next acting project

The Daily Mail reports that Swift is close to signing on to the project. "I'm told the deal is almost done," said the source, even though a separate one stated that no deal was "imminent." Rumors kicked high gear when Sam Wrench, the director of the concert film "Taylor Swift: Eras Tour," would be taking on directing duties for "The Bodyguard" remake.

The source claims Swift's team is negotiating key elements of the film, including whether or not she'd be writing new music for her to sing and perform in the film, and the casting of her love interest.

Swift's casting would be a big win for the project, immediately adding the eyeballs of her millions of fans. It would also add a layer of meta-casting to a project that explores fame and the pitfalls of celebrity culture.

Whitney Houston and Kevin Costner remained friends until her death

The original film was released in 1992 and starred Houston as an actress and singer who hires a bodyguard, played by Kevin Costner. The two fall in love through the course of the film, which features Houston's "I Will Always Love You" in one of its most emblematic scenes.

Another memorable part of the film is the real-life friendship that developed between Costner and Houston, with the former speaking at her funeral and often sharing his memories of the late star.

Swift's career as an actress

While Swift is the world's leading pop star, she's starred in various notorious films. She played the role of Bombalurina in "Cats" and had a small part in the David O. Russell film "Amsterdam."

Some of her previous roles include small parts in the TV show "CSI," and the movie "Valentine's Day."
