The Super Bowl LIX Halftime Show has Kendrick Lamar confirmed as the headline act. The much-anticipated event will take place on February 9, 2025, at the Caesars Superdome in New Orleans, a city known for its rich musical history and vibrant culture. "What's the deal, everybody? My name is Kendrick Lamar, and I'll be performing at SB 59. Will you be pulling up? I hope so! You know there’s only one opportunity to win a championship—no round two. Let's get it!" he says in a  video. Lamar encouraged viewers to wear their best "even if you’re watching from home."

This show marks Kendrick Lamar's second https://www.hola.com/us/tags/super-bowl/Super Bowl halftime performance, following his remarkable appearance at Super Bowl LVI in 2022, where he joined hip-hop legends Dr. Dre, Snoop Dogg, Mary J. Blige, and Eminem. Lamar, widely regarded as one of the most influential artists of his generation, is a Compton native whose work has earned him 17 Grammy Awards and a Pulitzer Prize for Music in 2018 for his groundbreaking album "DAMN."

The Pulitzer board recognized Lamar for his "virtuosity" and the album's "affecting vignettes capturing the complexity of modern African American life." This accolade cemented his legacy not only as a hip-hop icon but also as a cultural trailblazer.

A Potential Setlist for the Ages

Lamar's halftime show is expected to feature a mix of his biggest hits, delivering high-energy and introspective moments. While no official setlist has been confirmed, tracks that fans are hoping to hear include "HUMBLE," "Alright," "DNA," "Backseat Freestyle," and more.

In 2024, Rapper Master P called for Lamar to include Lil Wayne in his show. “Salute to @kendricklamar for performing at the halftime show at Super Bowl LIX.. well deserved, he’s one of the hottest music artists in the world and has one of the biggest songs right now,” wrote Master P. “As Ambassador of Entertainment in the City of New Orleans, I have to agree with the fans that @liltunechi #LilWayne should be a part of this celebration as well,” Master P continued. “He’s one of the greatest Hip Hop artists alive, still relevant, and he’s a New Orleans native. Let’s not miss this cultural moment in the South. Life is too short! We have to give our legends their flowers while they are here.”

The Halftime Show's Unique Appeal

The Super Bowl halftime show, which typically lasts between 12 and 15 minutes, allows for a longer performance during the big game. Twenty to thirty minutes are allotted to account for stage setup and breakdown. Though artists are paid a union minimum, the show's exposure and global reach provide unmatched promotional value.

For artists, the Super Bowl is less about financial compensation and more about the monumental platform.
