DOVE-GATE

Sabrina Carpenter gets pooped on by a dove named Tina at the Grammys - PETA reacts

Some say it's good luck, PETA says otherwise

The Grammys were on Sunday, and it was an incredible night as we honored the biggest names in music, like Bad Bunny, who made history, winning Album of the Year with a Spanish-language album. Some performances left a mark, like Sabrina Carpenter, who had a live dove whose name was later revealed to be Tina on stage.

Carpenter and Tina gave it their all, but the dove may have had a little bit of stage fright and gotten into fight or flight because she pooped on the pop star. In a clip posted to TikTok, the "Espresso" singer was seen celebrating before telling her crew, "it s**t on my hand."

While the performance appeared to go off without a hitch, anytime celebrities involve animals, if there's even the slightest hint of unethical treatment, People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) is quick to respond.

The group condemned her performance, sharing a photo of Carpenter with the words, "bringing a live bird onto the Grammys stage is stupid, slow, useless … and cruel! Bright lights, loud noise, and handling cause fear and distress for a bird that belongs flying free in the open sky."

They wrote in the caption, "Did [Sabrina Carpenter] really just bring a bird on stage in 2026?! The Manchild singer is exhibiting childlike behavior. Leave animals out of the # Grammys!"

Tina is a trained professional

In the comments, people were both agreeing and defending the singer. "The internet is soooo dramatic, the bird is clearly a trained professional, and it was on there for like two seconds, it's just really not that deep. The bird probably already forgot about it by now, and y'all r still holding onto it," one person wrote. "I love Sabrina, but I saw the bird, and I was like, ' Why?" and  "I watched and felt bad for that little baby" were among some of the other comments.

Once news broke that the dove pooped on her, more people questioned the use of the live animal, taking to X and Reddit to say that the bird was scared.

The backlash started to make waves, and the dove's owner spoke out about the drama, saying in a comment, "We prepared for this for months. Tina is perfectly fine." She also assured that, "Sabrina is a sweetheart and took the rehearsals very seriously." Tina even got an invitation to Sabrina's birthday party this year, which they said they're considering attending. "Thank you all for your concern," she concluded.

While a bird pooping on your hand is supposed to be good luck, Carpenter unfortunately did not take home any awards. She was up for 6 nominations, including Album of the Year and Best Pop Vocal Album for Man's Best Friend. Her single "Manchild" earned nods for Record of the Year, Song of the Year, Best Pop Solo Performance, and Best Music Video.
