North West teases new song with Kanye about finger piercings and skipping school

The track seems on theme with her debut album 'Elementary School Dropout'

It seems like 2026 is the year for new music for North West. After producing a song for Lil Wayne's son's latest song ‘Justswagup' with Mag!c, the singer has previewed a new song with her dad, Ye, formerly known as Kanye West.

North is following in her father's footsteps

The 12-year-old previewed the song on her Instagram and TikTok, which quickly made its rounds on social media. The track titled "Piercing on My Hand (Ye Version)" is about her love of piercings, which has received widespread criticism.  "Piercing on my hand, the other holding bands," North raps. "No friends, just filter, you wouldn’t understand."

North also shared some insight into her life at school, “painting a rebellious picture. “Went to school for two days, then I got banned/Skipping school, yeah, I do it on the daily," she continued. “Got some new rings, yeah, they’re so crazy."

"All my friends are hits, you know I’m not lazy/You’re so angry that I’m so mainstream," North adds.

The budding artist also shared her desire for more body modifications, singing “I’m not sure I’m crazy/I want more piercings and tats/I love blue hair put it in some plaits/Put the music to the max/I want like a hundred thousand racks.”

The lyrics seem to be on par with her debut album. It was previously announced that North was working on her debut titled “Elementary School Dropout.”

She shared the title at Ye’s Vultures listening party in Phoenix on March 10 after she hit the stage with him for their track “TALKING.” “And I’ve been working on my first album,” she told the crowd with roaring applause. “It’s called ‘Elementary School Dropout.’” At the time, parents were upset, saying she would encourage other children to drop out.

The release comes after she showed off new jewelry that appears to be a surface piercing.  North shared a photo showing off her hand to the camera.

North's personal expression has received a lot of feedback, and she recently clapped back at her adult haters after posting a few TikTok videos rocking fake facial piercings and a grill. She reshared a compilation of critical reactions on her TikTok Story with the caption, “Me every time I see a grown adult talk shit about North West bc of her style and piercings.”

It’s not the first time she’s addressed the backlash. When her finger piercings first went viral, the response online quickly turned harsh, with much of the criticism aimed at Kim’s parenting. After one commenter wrote that the piercing “broke” their heart, the @kimandnorth account replied simply, “It’s okay.”

And while there’s always room for a real conversation about how constant negativity can impact a child’s confidence or development, it’s also worth questioning why so many adults feel comfortable hyper-fixating on a young Black girl’s personal style and self-expression.

Back in September, Kim touched on the subject while speaking to Complex Style in a TikTok video. “She just loves what she loves,” Kim said. “And it’s just really fun to see someone be so creative. And also knows herself so much.”
