Karoline Leavitt, the White House press secretary, is expecting her second child. The 28-year-old announced on her social media, providing some details to her followers.
Leavitt's post was made up of various images, with Leavitt posing next to a Christmas tree and showcasing her pregnant belly in a tight white dress. More images showed a onesie with the words "baby sis" printed on it and a sonogram, and a photo of her son and her husband, Nicholas Riccio, who is 32 years her senior.
"The greatest Christmas gift we could ever ask for - a baby girl coming in May 2026," she captioned the post.
"My husband and I are thrilled to grow our family and can’t wait to watch our son become a big brother. My heart is overflowing with gratitude to God for the blessing of motherhood, which I truly believe is the closest thing to Heaven on Earth. I am also extremely grateful to President Trump and our Chief of Staff Susie Wiles for their support, and for fostering a pro-family environment in the White House. 2026 is going to be a great year and I am so excited to be a girl mom!"
In the past, Leavitt has addressed the age gap between herself and Riccio, calling their lovestory "atypical."
"I mean it's a very atypical love story but he's incredible,” she said in an interview with "The Megyn Kelly Show".
“He's the father of my child and he's the best dad I could ever ask for. And he is so supportive, especially during a very chaotic period of life... I say, ‘I walked into your life and it's been a circus ever since,’ but God bless him because he's fully on board.”
What happens to Leavitt's job?
Leavitt has a notorious job, representing the face of the Trump administration. Following her pregnancy announcement, many have been wondering if she'll step away from her duties in the following months, and if who'll be stepping in as her replacement.
In an appearance on Fox News, Lara Trump, Trump's daughter-in-law, shed some clarity on the future of Leavitt and her job. “I’ve seen some stories out there…people saying ‘whose next in line,’” said Lara.“Nobody’s next in line, it’s Karoline, she can do everything."
Lara said that Leavitt had experience with delivering children while maintaining a high-pressure job. “She did this, by the way, during the Trump campaign,” she continued. “She was pregnant, delivered her son Niko, and then was back to work within a couple of days on television fighting to ensure President Trump got elected.”
“We’re all going to be watching as Karoline Leavitt absolutely schools the fake news media while she’s probably 8 and 9 months pregnant.”
