Angelina Jolie is ready for a new life outside the United States. After months of whispers that the Salt star was planning to sell her home and move out of Los Angeles, a source told PEOPLE, those plans have started to take motion.

The mother of six has been residing in the historic Cecil B. DeMille estate in Los Feliz since she purchased it in 2017 for $24.5 million. The acclaimed director lived there for 40 years until he passed away in 1959.

According to a PEOPLE insider, the home is quietly being shown to pre-qualified buyers after some renovations. As for when she plans to move? The source said she plans to relocate as soon as her twins, Knox and Vivienne, whom she shared with Brad Pitt, turn 18.

Angelina initially moved to the home to be closer to Pitt, with whom she shares six kids. An insider had previously told PEOPLE Angelina “never wanted to live in L.A. full time," but she "didn't have a choice because of the custody arrangement with Brad [Pitt]."

Angelina and Brad's family has been making headlines for years

Angelina and Brad share Maddox, 24, Pax, 22, Zahara, 20, Shiloh, 19, and twins Knox and Vivienne, 17. After their bitter divorce and very loud signs that things are not going well between the kids and Brad, like Shiloh dropping his last name, once the twins turn 18, nothing is holding them back.

Angelina is ready for the future

Angelina has traveled all around the world for work, vacation, and as a UNHCR Goodwill Ambassador. She visited more than 20 countries, so the options are limitless. An insider told PEOPLE she has her eyes on "several locations abroad."

They noted that she'll be "very happy" when she's able to leave Los Angeles and is "ready for a life that isn't centered" in the famous city.

But that doesn't mean shes saying goodbye to the industry, "There are a lot of projects she's excited about, and she's feeling good," they added. "She's looking forward to 2026 and the flexibility she'll have then."

The news months after the Oscar-winning actress's comments about the USA went viral. She was asked at a film festival in Spain in September, “What do you fear as an artist and an American?”

Angelina called it a "very difficult question” before responding, “I love my country, but at this time, I don’t recognize my country." “I’ve always lived internationally, my family is international, my friends, my life.”

“My worldview is equal, united, and international. Anything anywhere that divides or limits personal expressions and freedoms from anyone, I think, is very dangerous," she added.

“These are such serious times that we have to be careful not to say things casually,” Angelina continued. “These are very, very heavy times we are living in together.”
