Gina Rodriguez has officially expanded her family. On Tuesday, Dec. 30, the 41-year-old star announced the arrival of her second child, a daughter, sharing a series of heartwarming photos on Instagram. In one photo, Rodriguez cradles her newborn as the baby snuggles into her neck, while another shows the proud parents sharing a kiss against a glowing sunset.
"2025 gave me Her. Lucille Edith LoCicero. I love you forever, baby girl," Rodriguez captioned the post, revealing her daughter’s name. Rodriguez and her husband, actor Joe LoCicero, have been married since 2019.
The couple, who met as costars on Netflix’s 'Someone Great,' are already parents to a son, Charlie Ray, born in early 2023. The news of Rodriguez’s pregnancy was first shared with the world on July 11, 2025, at the red carpet for Netflix’s 'Katie Taylor vs. Amanda Serrano 3' fight at Madison Square Garden.
That night, Rodriguez, radiant in a black and floral floor-length dress, cradled her bump while enjoying a date night with LoCicero. Speaking to People, she confirmed she was expecting a baby girl and candidly opened up about her fears.
"I'm terrified of birth. It's so painful," she admitted. "But I'm so excited for our baby girl to come into this world. And so it's like, I'll do what I gotta do to get her here."
Motherhood has clearly brought a new perspective for Rodriguez, who described the experience of being pregnant while caring for a toddler. "My husband is literally a 10. I mean, he is tremendous," she said.
"Being pregnant with a toddler is probably more debilitating than I ever thought it was, and he just scoops in everything, as you would hope a partner would, but he does it all the time, before I even think about it — before I ask."
She added, "He should have my back, and he loves me so deeply, and oh god, it makes it really, really wonderful to bring children into this world when you have someone fantastic like that."
Charlie, now two, will soon step into the role of big brother. Rodriguez has always been open about her experiences with motherhood. After Charlie was born, he spent some time in the NICU following a challenging start, which only deepened Rodriguez’s gratitude for his healthy and thriving personality.
"And to think now ... of course, now I'm going to cry. To think now that we have this healthy, vivacious, loving, so loving little boy ... there's so much gratitude in the journey," she said in February 2024.
