¡HOLA! Spain has learned that Alejandro Sanz and Candela Márquez have ended their relationship. The split is very recent and took place just days ago. As recently as last Thursday, the couple was still together, celebrating the singer’s 57th birthday. There are no third parties involved in the breakup. According to sources close to them, “they are crazy about each other, but they’re both very passionate personalities.”
This isn’t the first time they’ve chosen to part ways. It has happened before, although in the past, love always won out and they eventually found their way back to each other. In fact, it wouldn’t be surprising, and it’s even likely, that they may reconcile once again, though “for now, they’ve said goodbye.”
Following the separation, the actress returned to Valencia to spend the holidays with her family in her hometown, something she herself shared with followers during a live social media broadcast. Listening closely to her words, it was already clear that something wasn’t quite right with the Madrid-born artist.
Around the same time, the La Encrucijada star shared several excerpts from Rosalía’s new and wildly popular song La Perla, widely believed to be addressed to her ex, Rauw Alejandro. The lyrics include phrases such as “national heartbreaker” and “emotional terrorist,” labels Candela now appears to have made her own, seemingly in reference to the Corazón Partío singer.
The Romance of Alejandro and Candela
News of their relationship first broke on October 4, 2024, when it emerged that they had attended, along with many other VIP guests, the lavish 50th birthday celebration of actor and director Paco León at an estate in Torrelodones, just outside Madrid. Weeks later, once the romance was already public, León himself confirmed to reporters that he had seen them looking very much “in love.”
Before those comments, on October 19, Sanz and Márquez were spotted in a very different setting. They attended a soccer match at Chase Stadium in Fort Lauderdale, Miami, home to the team where Leo Messi plays, and David Beckham serves as president.
It was their first public appearance together and made one thing clear. There was undeniable chemistry between them. They appeared close and in sync, though without overt displays of affection. At the time, it still wasn’t entirely certain they were a couple. Shortly after that outing, Candela posted a photo of herself captioned, “So what do I do?” to which Alejandro replied, “I have ideas.” She answered, “You’ll tell me in a few hours.” His final response was, “I’ll tattoo them on you. Counting the hours.” Case closed.
Then came October 26, when everything was officially confirmed. Photos surfaced of the two looking openly affectionate, kissing, laughing, and sharing intimate moments as they strolled through Miami Beach and enjoyed a glass of wine together. It was clear proof of a budding romance, one they would later make official on November 13 with their first red carpet appearance as a couple at the Latin Grammy Awards.
