Rosalía’s schedule is packed to the brim. One day, she’s joyfully eating pozole in Mexico City, and the next, she’s in Barcelona presenting her new record.
This week, the artist appeared on La Revuelta, the RTVE talk show, where she not only spoke about the creative process behind LUX, an album already making waves across the music world, but also surprised audiences with a few intimate confessions that didn’t go unnoticed.
During the interview, host David Broncano, known for his personal and offbeat questions, asked about her finances, work life, family dynamics, and, inevitably, her sex life over the past 30 days. Without hesitation, Rosalía responded with a firm “zero,” leaving everyone stunned.
“The thing is, I’m in a celibate phase,” she explained. Immersed in the topic, she elaborated that her current lifestyle is a result of her demanding workload. “When I’m under a lot of stress or working non-stop, my libido drops. It’s a physical reaction. When the cortisol spikes, everything shifts,” she said, without a hint of shame, simply describing a physiological response to emotional and mental strain.
A Lifestyle choice she’s embraced willingly
In a previous interview with Radio Noia, Rosalía had already touched on the subject: “Right now, I’m single and I’m volcel, that means voluntarily celibate. My priority at the moment is myself, my art, my time.”
True to her candid nature, she also revealed another intimate detail, admitting that during this period of abstinence she once had a vivid dream that felt so real it led to what she described as a “dream orgasm.”
Contrary to what some might assume, Rosalía’s decision has nothing to do with religion. For her, it’s a matter of self-awareness and confronting her biggest fear: loneliness. “I struggle a lot with feeling alone. I really don’t like solitude. I love affection. I think I always need to believe that there’s still faith in love,” she told The New York Times in another recent interview.
