Kelly Ripa isn't too sure about Mark Consuelos' new theory involving her friends. In a recent appearance on "Live with Kelly and Mark," the couple opened up about their friend group, sharing some of their difficulties when setting them up with prospective dates.
"When we have a really good girlfriend of ours that's single and looking, we can't think of a guy to set her up with," said Ripa. "I could, but they're usually gay," said Consuelos
He then said that Ripa's "single girlfriends are always asking you if I have a brother, and I do, and he's married to another Kelly." Consuelos then proposed a wilder theory, suggesting that Ripa be careful of some of these friends, especially if she's feeling sick. "You're going to leave me over a sore throat?" she asked.
"No, but they're hoping that you get..." said Mark, with Ripa cutting him off in understanding. "They're hoping I die? You're saying my best girlfriends are hoping I die so they can marry you?" she asked the audience, prompting loud laughs.
She had the perfect comeback. "Please, my good girlfriends know a lot about you, so I wouldn't get too confident," Ripa said. "I wouldn't say you're the number one priority. 'I hope Kelly dies so I can steal Mark!'"
Ripa and Consuelos' long love story
Ripa and Consuelos have one of the most stable relationships in the industry, with the pair getting married in 1996 after meeting on the soap opera "All My Children." They played each other's love interests. "When I saw him, the photograph of him, I saw my entire future with him flash before [my eyes] — like I saw it," said Ripa in a 2018 interview. "And I don't believe in any of that, and now I do because of that moment."
Since, the couple has welcomed three children: Michael, Lola, and Joaquin, often sharing glimpses of their lives on their social media. They also host a daytime show together, with Ripa introducing Consuelos' on his first show, in 2017, as the man who would be "joining me today — and permanently, until one of us dies."
