Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck have reunited! The former married couple is in New York City for the premiere of Kiss Of The Spider Woman, and they were nothing but smiles on the red carpet.
JLo arrived dressed to impress with a perfectly on-theme olive green dress that had a floral design and an intricate black design that gave off a spider-like vibe.
Affleck wore a navy blue suit, happily posing with his ex-wife, who is the star of the film. They smiled, posing with Tonatiuh, who also stars in the film, and were snapped talking with Affleck, whispering something in her ear.
It's a proud night for Lopez and the rest of the cast and crew. The film has been buzzing for the Academy Awards, with some wondering if it will earn JLo her first nomination.
The Air director is attached to the project as an executive producer, and JLo has been happy to give him credit where it is due. In a live interview with Today, after Craig Melvin brought up her divorce, she seamlessly turned the awkward moment into a sweet moment.
“In the middle of filming this elaborate, beautiful musical, your divorce is also finalized with Ben …” Melvin said before Lopez laughed it off, turning to the producer, and pointing at Melvin, saying, “There you go. Look at this guy."
After Melvin tried to safe face, pointing out that he is an executive producer on the film, she praised Affleck. “If it wasn’t for Ben, the movie wouldn’t have been made, and I will always give him that credit,” she said.
She also drew a connection from the film to that period of her life. "The movie is about escapism. It’s about how movies and art save us in the hardest times of our lives. And doing this project was such a dream come true for me that it really got me through, to kind of survive a moment that was difficult in my personal life, as well," she said.
“So, after that, I took some time off, and now we’re back. And I’m really excited for everybody to see this film. It’s a beautiful film about love," the Hustlers star continued. Lopez has been very open about how the musical, based on the 1976 novel by Argentine writer Manuel Puig, is her dream role.
It's not the first time she's credited Affleck and Artists Equity, the production company he founded with Matt Damon. She told CBS Morning last month, "I will always give him that credit. They financed it."
When she told Affleck how much she wanted to play the role, “He was like, ‘Okay,’ and he helped make it happen."
Despite their dramatic split, the Hypnotic star has always had nothing but nice things to say about her. Earlier this year, in April, he told Entertainment Tonight at The Accountant 2 premiere, “For the record, Jennifer Lopez is spectacular, great to my kids, great ongoing relationship with them."
“I love her kids. They are wonderful,” Affleck added. “She is enormously important, [a] tremendous person of a lot of integrity who I adore and am grateful to.”
