Keith Urban and Nicole Kidman’s divorce after 19 years was shocking enough, but now there’s a new twist: his 25-year-old guitarist, Maggie Baugh. Over the weekend, before news of the split, Maggie shared a video on her Instagram of them playing “The Fighter," which he's said in the past is about his relationship with Kidman. He swapped the lyrics “baby, I’ll be the fighter” for “Maggie, I’ll be your guitar player," flipping his hair with pride as they beamed at each other.
Maggie captioned the post, “Did he just say that?” and it has since been flooded with comments like, "It is so trashy to do this to a song inspired by his wife. It’s the ultimate ick."
Their on-stage clues go all the way back to April during their performance in Vegas. In a clip posted to TMZ, when he sang the lyrics to the same song, “I was born to love you," he pointed and looked at her. The lyric change was there too, "Maggie, I’ll be your fighter," he sings before they share a hug.
So, who is Maggie?
Maggie isn’t a household name yet, but she’s been hustling in the Nashville scene for years. She grew up in South Florida, where she first picked up the violin at just six years old and eventually made her way to Carnegie Hall. By middle school, she ditched classical for country music, started singing, and used songwriting as an outlet after being bullied in school.
There's no doubting her talent; by the time she was 13, she had released her first record. She plays multiple instruments like guitar, fiddle, piano, and more. After touring Florida’s festival circuit, she made the big move to Nashville when she was 18. Since then, she’s done it all: touring, opening for big names, and even popping up in Trace Adkins’ 2021 video “Where the Country Girls At” with Luke Bryan and Pitbull. She scored her biggest gig, touring with Urban, in 2024.
Maggie also mastered the modern hustle. On TikTok, her viral series “Finish the Lick” turned her into a country-crossover influencer with nearly 400k followers.
Why everyone’s side-eyeing
With Kidman being one of the most beloved actresses in Hollywood, it's no surprise that people are upset about the news that he may have already moved on. But their age gap is also a topic of discussion. Maggie is 32 years younger than 57-year-old Keith.
Nashville insiders told TMZ on September 30 that "all the signs point to the fact that Keith is with another woman." "Let's just say, Nicole doesn't dispute that, but she's still shocked over it," they added. The former couple shares daughters Sunday, 17, and Faith, 14.
The singer was spotted for the first time since the divorce news on Thursday, and in pictures published to TMZ, he was spotted hopping off a private jet with a clean finger - no wedding ring.
