Gigi Hadid is celebrating the most special person in her life. In a recent post, Hadid tributed her daughter Khai, celebrating her 5th birthday as she shared some adorable photos of her birthday cake and decorations. She also made a rare comment referencing Zayn Malik, her ex and Khai's father.
The photos show Hadid hugging Khai and holding her in her lap. The two appear to be in a woodsy location, sitting atop a wooden structure. To commemorate her birthday, Khai was surrounded by decorations and a cake, a simple yet sweet setup that seemed to have made her daughter happy.
"Celebrating you is the Best Day Ever, every year. Happy 5th Birthday to the light of my life! You are truly everything," Hadid captioned the post.
"So lucky & proud to be your mama!!!!!!! (p.s. 5 HOW ?!?)."
In the comments section, Hadid made a rare reference to Malik. One of her followers wrote, "I wish her dad would also be there."
Hadid responded directly, writing, "She was with us both on her birthday!"
Hadid and Malik have figured out a coparenting plan that works for them
Hadid and Malik dated on and off from 2015 to 2022. While she tends to keep her personal life as private as possible, in a recent interview with Vogue, she opened up about co-parenting with Malik, and how the two have found a system that works for them and their daughter.
"Zayn and I do our custody schedules months in advance," she said. "That doesn't mean that it doesn't change here and there, but we help each other out and have each other's backs."
Hadid revealed that while it was difficult to raise a daughter in the public eye, she revealed that she's developed a positive co-parenting relationship with Zayn over the years, with the two on the same page for the things that matter most. “There is the hard part of the world knowing this much, and thinking they know everything,” she said. “What we are interested in is raising our daughter together, with so much respect for each other.”
