Former President Barack Obama and his wife, Michelle, have put to rest recent rumors about their marriage with a luxurious and low-key vacation in Italy. The couple was recently seen enjoying a rare joint getaway aboard Steven Spielberg’s $250 million superyacht, 'Seven Seas,' docked off the picturesque coast of Portofino.

The Obamas arrived separately on the stunning 357-foot vessel, one of the largest yachts in the world. Michelle was the first to step aboard on Friday, turning heads in a stylish Canadian tuxedo, featuring a medium-wash denim jacket paired with matching baggy jeans.

Her look was completed with silver accessories, aviator sunglasses, and platform leather sandals. Sporting mini braids pulled back into a tight ponytail, Michelle embraced the day’s boating vibe while warmly greeting the Oscar-winning director Spielberg.

Spielberg and his wife Kate Capshaw were seen saying their goodbyes on the yacht to the Obamas, with hugs all around marking the end of the Obama's Italian vacation.

A few hours later, Barack joined the group, arriving with a security detail that reportedly included Italian intelligence officers and bomb-sniffing dogs. He was casually dressed in white slacks, a taupe brown jacket, and a white baseball cap. The couple was later photographed sharing laughter and a leisurely lunch on the yacht’s upper deck alongside Spielberg and his wife, actress Kate Capshaw.

This getaway is a much-needed trip for the Obamas amid ongoing political chaos and persistent speculation about their personal lives. Sources close to the couple describe the trip as a chance to relax and reconnect, with one insider telling DailyMail, “They needed this trip more than they thought they did."

The insider continued, "It [was] a really nice time to be able to lay low and be together. Everyone was in great spirits….They are interested in being in the world together rather than apart, because the world they live in outside of everything is a s--t show in their eyes, politically speaking.”

The vacation comes shortly after the couple playfully addressed their marriage rumors during a joint appearance on Michelle’s podcast, IMO, earlier this year. Her brother, Craig Robinson, introduced Barack with a hint of humor, “This is the episode that everyone’s been waiting for with bated breath because we have my brother-in-law, your husband, the former president of the United States.” He added, joking about the rumors, “Wait, you guys like each other?”

Barack responded with a laugh, “She took me back! It was touch and go for a while.” Michelle warned, “Now don’t you start,” to which Robinson quipped, “It’s so nice to have you both in the same room.” Barack admitted, “I know, because when we aren’t, folks think we’re divorced.”

The 'Seven Seas' yacht itself is a marvel, featuring a private cinema, an oversized beach club, a large pool, and a helipad. Its interiors were designed by Isaksen Design, while Sinot Yacht Architecture handled the exteriors. This glamorous setting was the perfect backdrop for the Obamas’ rare and intimate escape.
