Dakota Johnson commanded attention in a daring sheer gown at a high-profile charity gala in New York, where she joined fellow stars in support of the Kering Foundation’s Caring for Women dinner. The actress, 35, best known for her breakout role in the Fifty Shades of Grey franchise, arrived in a floor-length black Gucci dress with lace panels that revealed much of her figure.
She paired the look with a matching bra-and-underwear set, styled her hair in a sleek updo, and finished the ensemble with a tennis necklace and silver earrings.
The Manhattan event drew a host of other celebrities. Lauren Sánchez Bezos made her first red carpet appearance since marrying Amazon founder Jeff Bezos in June, while Colman Domingo, Demi Moore, and Adrien Brody were also photographed in designer couture.
Johnson’s striking fashion choice follows a series of bold style moments in recent weeks. In August, she was spotted in New York wearing a black sheer midi dress with long sleeves.
Speaking to Etalk on August 20, Johnson admitted she’s more hesitant when it comes to switching up her hairstyle. “I’m like obviously physically attached to my hair, but I’m very emotionally attached to it,” she said. “I should probably change things up, but I don’t think I will.
She also revealed she has no plans to step away from the romance genre. Johnson is set to appear in Verity, the screen adaptation of Colleen Hoover’s bestselling novel. "I’m just so interested in love and love stories,” she explained. “It’s so much a part of our human development and our journey.”
Born in Austin, Texas, in 1989 to actors Don Johnson and Melanie Griffith, Dakota grew up in a Hollywood family before pursuing her own acting career. She went on to star in films including Suspiria, The Lost Daughter, and Cha Cha Real Smooth. Alongside acting, she co-founded the production company TeaTime Pictures in 2019.
