Kendall Jenner's retirement: Star plans to quit modeling to start a new career

Kendall Jenner has always been in the spotlight, but now she’s ready to trade the flashing cameras for something more grounded and entirely her own. At 29, the supermodel revealed that she’s planning to leave her high-powered modeling career behind and step into a world she says feels far more authentic.

For over a decade, Kendall has been one of fashion’s most in-demand faces. She debuted on "Keeping Up With The Kardashians" at just 11 years old and later transformed herself into the world’s highest-paid model, walking for powerhouse brands like Chanel, Versace, and Balmain. Yet despite her monumental success, Kendall admits the industry has never fully felt like home.

In a new interview with Vogue alongside fellow model Gigi Hadid, she candidly shared, “I swear to God, I’m going to stop everything and just design homes. I’m not kidding.” It’s a bold move, but one that doesn’t seem to surprise those who know her best. Kendall has always shown a love for interiors, cozy living, and creating spaces that reflect her down-to-earth personality.

The Pull of the Simple Life

Unlike her glitzy image on the runway, Kendall says her happiest days are the ones when she gets to live quietly. “I love my space in LA, but I also really love the simple life,” she explained. “I like getting up every morning and throwing on a bathing suit or sweatpants and no makeup and just being free with my day.”

The homebody-turned-model finds joy in the small rituals that most people take for granted, including quiet mornings, casual clothes, and moments away from the spotlight. Her passion for horses also provides an escape from fame, where she can compete incognito. “I love to go to the horse show dressed just like everybody else… and I can compete under a completely different name.”

Reflecting on a Childhood in Fame

Kendall also spoke about what it was like to grow up with the world watching. On Emma Chamberlain’s "Anything Goes" podcast last year, she recalled the strange duality of her teenage years. “Even though we had a TV show at home, we were going to regular school all day and had our friends that we had from before the show started,” she said.

She admitted that it wasn’t always easy, but she feels gratitude for the stability her parents and siblings gave her. “I think that Kylie and I, the one thing we had was a lot of stability, a lot of love and a really great support system and really great friends.”

Having older siblings like Kourtney, Kim, Khloé, and Rob also gave her a roadmap. “There’s also an aspect of us being really grateful that we had older siblings that we got to see do things before us and lead us in a way.”

What’s Next for Kendall Jenner?

Kendall’s pivot is about building a life that feels more authentic. By leaning into home design, she’s channeling her creativity into something that allows her to be both private and expressive.

And while fans may be sad to see her step back from fashion, her choice feels like a natural evolution. She’s redirecting her influence into a space where simplicity, creativity, and authenticity reign.
