Keanu Reeves just marked a major birthday, and the celebration was as sweet as it was special.
The John Wick actor turned 61 on September 2, and his longtime partner, Alexandra Grant, gave fans a peek into the intimate way she helped him celebrate the occasion. The 52-year-old artist posted a photo of a heart-shaped cake adorned with white icing, ringed with candles, and decorated with black-and-white candies. Written across the top in red gel was the message: “KEANU X.”
In the caption of her September 3 Instagram post, Alexandra let fans know that their kind gestures hadn’t gone unnoticed.
“Thank you to everyone for sending over sweet wishes for Keanu's birthday yesterday,” she wrote. “He was well-celebrated!”
Though Keanu doesn't use social media himself, Alexandra included a sweet note for him in the post, revealing that he had, in fact, seen it in draft form.
“To Keanu—who saw this post as a draft!—I am so grateful for your love and partnership,” she added. “Now back to painting! Xo.”
The couple made their first public appearance together on a red carpet in November 2019. Keanu later confirmed their relationship and shared a bit about their time together during the pandemic.
“It's been really wonderful to be with Alexandra,” he told Parade in August 2020. “We enjoy each other's company, whatever that may be. Once the beaches opened up, we went for a motorcycle ride, and we have a couple of projects.”
Alexandra has also opened up about how their relationship came at a meaningful stage in her life.
“The good news about falling in love as an adult is that I had built my own career by the time that my relationship had begun,” she told People in September 2023. “I feel very confident in the relationship on the red carpet. I feel confident on it alone.”
