Richard Gere celebrated his first birthday in Spain. The American icon turned 76 while in Madrid, his home as of last year, where he lives alongside his wife Alejandra and their kids, James and Alexander. The family lives in the exclusive area of La Moraleja, with Alejandra sharing some adorable photos of her husband's birthday celebration.
Alejandra: The perfect hostess
Richard and Alejandra Gere celebrated the occasion in their home, which has a yard of over 2,000 square meters. The pair invited their family and friends over, which is credited as one of the reasons why they decided to make their move to Spain.
“My wife grew up in a big Spanish family, like a big Italian family, and her grandmother was kind of the glue that held that all together," he said in an appearance on "The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon."
"And the grandmother passed away [about] two years ago, so my wife, I can see her morphing into the new grandmother of this extended family. So she’s already planning for 35 people for Sunday lunches."
Gere was another kid at his birthday party
Alejandra shared some photos on her social media, celebrating her husband's special day. The photo showed Gere holding on to his two sons, with him wearing a King's crown.
"Happy birthday," wrote Alejandra over the image. "King for a day!"
She also shared a sweet tribute on her Instagram, accompanied by a photo of herself and Gere holding each other tight.
"Happy Birthday, my love, This year has brought changes and challenges, but through it all you’ve been the constant our rock. The boys and I feel your love in every moment: the way you show up for us, the patience you bring, the strength you give, and the heart you pour into this family. You are everything to us the best husband and the best dad always giving, always helping. Even in the busiest days, you are the center of our little universe, and we are so grateful for you. We love you beyond words, today and always. With all my heart, Ale."
