Jessica Biel and Justin Timberlake are very private when it comes to their sons, Silas, 10, and Phineas, 5, but this week she gave fans a rare glimpse into their lives. On Thursday, she shared a gallery of photos on Instagram from their family vacation.
In the mix was a tender moment of the siblings, with Silas gently hugging his little brother while holding a skateboard. Phineas, a different type of skater, clutched onto a neon green scooter.
The boys were practicing safe skating habits with helmets, and she made sure their faces were hidden, maintaining their privacy. “Family summer vibes,” Biel captioned the post, which also included snapshots of herself, a rainbow over a lake, and an ice cream boat.
A well-needed vacation
Their family vacation comes shortly after Timberlake revealed he has been diagnosed with Lyme disease. The singer shared the news on social media, explaining that he had been struggling with nerve pain, extreme fatigue, and mental strain, all of which had affected his recent performances.
Timberlake emphasized that his disclosure was meant to raise awareness and not to seek sympathy. “Living with this can be relentlessly debilitating, both mentally and physically,” he wrote, adding that the diagnosis helped him understand the challenges he had been facing on stage.
He also reflected on being raised to keep personal struggles private, noting that he is now striving for more transparency to help others who might be experiencing similar health issues.
Will their kids follow in their footsteps?
Aside from skating and skooting, Biel recently revealed that one of them has an interest in entertainment. She shared back in May that they have a future DJ on their hands.
When asked if any of them are showing interest in following in their footsteps, she said Silas has an interest in acting and music. "He’s just getting that kind of confidence, and kind of his own attitude is coming out," Biel explained.
She went on to call him an "aspiring DJ" and said he even DJ’d his own 10th birthday party. “He was working his party, and it was so fun," she said. It seems like Silas has some pretty good taste, too, that spans decades. "He mixes things from Jackson 5 to Justin to old school stuff, doo-wop stuff, I mean everything," the proud mom explained.
But while Silas has a creative spirit, Biel wants him to experience childhood, and not contracts. In an interview with InStyle, she admitted that Silas would probably work all the time if he were a child actor, but she wants to wait until he's 18 to decide to pursue anything professionally.
"That's your choice. That's what I would like to hold on to, if possible, for him, you know?" she shared. Of course, she can't shield him from the world forever, but as he gets older, they're figuring it out together, which she admits can get "tricky." "We do really try hard not to expose them in a way that they're not comfortable with," she told the outlet.
