Matthew McConaughey has delighted many with his manners. The Texan actor and writer was one of the most notorious guests at the Wimbledon finals, attending the match alongside his wife Camila Alves McConaughey. The sporting event is one of the most prestigious in England and is regularly attended by the British Royals, who hand out the trophies to the winners. 

This year, Prince William and Kate Middleton attended the match alongside their kids, prompting a polite response from McConaughey that surprised many viewers.

McConaughey was seated in the Royal Box alongside tennis icons like Andre Agassi and actors like Paul Mescal

In videos posted online, fans and guests captured the moment when the Royals arrived at the box, with McConaughey standing up and remaining on his feet as the audience members clapped for them. 

Other members of the box followed in McConaughey's example, standing for the royals. 

The response prompted positive responses from online users. “Matthew McConaughey standing to applaud the Prince & Princess of Wales. What a lovely southern gentleman,” wrote someone. 

"Yes, he has lovely manners," wrote a second person. 

"McConaughey surely respects everyone he encounters," concluded a third person.

The men's Wimbledon final were played last Sunday between Carlos Alcaraz and Jannik Sinner, with the latter coming out on top and winning his first Wimbledon tournament for the first time. 

Alcaraz shared a sweet message online, congratulating his opponent and wishing him the best in his career and their next encounter. "Congratulations Jannik Sinner for your first Wimbledon! Very well deserved!" he wrote, adding a handshake emoji. 

"Thank you everyone for your support! I feel at home and it’s really special to play here! See you all next year!"

While the Royals were expected to attend the match, Princess Charlotte and Prince George were a surprise, with the two making their first appearance at the sporting event. The children made for an adorable sight, with Princess Charlotte even waving her fan towards her mother to shield her from 81 degree heat. 

"It was a lovely interaction," said a photographer who captured the exchange for PEOPLE
