Katie Holmes has famously stayed silent about her marriage to Tom Cruise, but she reportedly made a quiet but big reaction to his new rumored romance on Instagram.
According to PEOPLE, the Dawson’s Creek alum “liked” a May 1st post from Daily Mail about Cruise’s rumored relationship with Ana de Armas. The post claimed the two stars were officially an item and even said Cruise was planning to take her to the Mission: Impossible premiere at Cannes. De Armas did not appear on the red carpet, but the post did get noticed, and allegedly by Katie herself.
The like doesn't appear to be there anymore. But PEOPLE reports she double-tapped it at some point. So it could have been a subtle message sent or just a slip of the finger. Either way, it’s the closest thing to a reaction Holmes has ever given about Cruise’s love life since their 2012 split.
As for Cruise and de Armas, things were heating up this year, and they were seen together a lot over the past few months. Even sneaking out of David Beckham’s 50th birthday bash together, with Ana doing the classic “hide from the paparazzi” move in the car on May 3. They’ve also been spotted on helicopter rides, Valentine’s Day dinners, and other not-so-low-key outings.
Most recently, on June 13, Page Six reported that they had dinner a "couple of times" in a private room at the members-only club Annabel’s in London over the past two months. “Tom looks enchanted by her,” the insider said, noting that the Cuban-Spanish actress “looks very happy with him.”
While sources have repeatedly claimed they're just working together, the Knives Out star addressed the buzz during an interview on Good Morning America in May while promoting Ballerina, her John Wick spinoff. When asked about Cruise, she couldn't dodge: “It’s so much fun,” she said of working with him, adding that they’re collaborating on “a few projects” with directors Doug Liman and Christopher McQuarrie.
According to Us Weekly, the two have known each other for years, but things got closer in February. “It’s very low-key,” a source said. “Tom’s been courting her.”
While the Daily Mail post that Holmes allegedly liked said his A-List ex, Penelope Cruz, approves of the relationship, a source told Daily Mail de Armas' ex Ben Affleck was side-eyeing the whole thing. An insider told the outlet in May he’s “the jealous type” and that it’s “kind of weird” for him to see Ana so happy with his old friend, but they explained that he’s “happy for them” too.
