Sydney Sweeney turned heads when she showed up at Jeff Bezos and Lauren Sánchez’s extravagant three-day wedding celebration in Venice, Italy, and fans everywhere were asking the same thing: Why was she even there?
The 27-year-old Euphoria and White Lotus star, who has no public ties to the Amazon founder or his bride, was spotted dancing with Tom Brady and strolling with Orlando Bloom.
Now, insiders are revealing that her connection to Amazon MGM Studios, where she’s executive producing the upcoming film Split Fiction, might explain how she landed on the ultra-exclusive guest list for what some dubbed “the wedding of the century.”
According to Page Six, Sweeney wasn’t there as a friend of the couple, but rather to “pay respects to the ‘boss,’ just like in the old days of Hollywood,” a source claimed. Her connection to Bezos reportedly stems from her role as executive producer on the above mentioned film, which is currently in development.
While she may not have been part of Bezos and Sánchez’s inner circle, Sweeney certainly made the most of the A-list festivities. Throughout the multi-day affair, which kicked off June 26 with a welcome party and wrapped on June 28, the actress was seen dancing with former NFL quarterback Tom Brady and enjoying a scenic walk through Venice with actor Orlando Bloom.
The event hosted approximately 200 high-profile guests. Joining Sweeney on the invite list were reality star Kim Kardashian, Microsoft founder Bill Gates, Oprah Winfrey, and Ivanka Trump with husband Jared Kushner, among other power players from the worlds of tech, entertainment, and politics.
Sweeney’s appearance came amid changes in her personal life as well. Just a month prior, she confirmed her breakup with longtime fiancé Jonathan Davino, a film producer she began dating in 2018. The couple had been engaged since March 2022, though speculation about their status grew after Sweeney was spotted without her ring for several months.
Asked about her current relationship plans, the Euphoria star recently told The Times, “No.” Now single and focusing on self-discovery, Sweeney shared that she’s been leaning into her friendships and enjoying time with her inner circle.
“Yes,” she said. “I’m learning a lot about myself, and spending more time with my friends. And I’m loving it.”
