Cristiano Ronaldo signs jersey with 'special message' for President Donald Trump

Read the soccer player's message to the president of the United States

President Donald Trump was gifted a signed Cristiano Ronaldo jersey with a "special message." António Costa, president of the European Council, presented the president of the United States with the gift on Monday in Kananaskis, Alberta, Canada. "To President Donald J. Trump," the Portuguese soccer star signed the jersey, adding, "Playing for Peace."

On X, António shared photos of President Trump and the jersey, along with a closeup of Cristiano's message. Alongside the images, he wrote: "To President @realdonaldtrump. Playing for peace.  As a team."

Margo Martin, special assistant and communications advisor to President Trump, posted a video of the moment the president received the jersey. In the clip, António can be heard telling the American president that there is a "special message" on the jersey. After reading it to him, President Trump replied, "Oh, I like that. Playing for peace." Holding up the jersey, he said, "That's great."

The  president of the United States arrived in Calgary on Sunday, June 15, for the G7 Leaders’ Summit taking place in Kananaskis, Alberta. The day before his arrival, President Trump turned 79. The dad of five, accompanied by First Lady Melania Trump, attended the 250th anniversary of the U.S. Army military parade in D.C. on his birthday (June 14).

On Sunday morning, Lara Trump, who is married to first son Eric Trump, shared a snapshot from an "impromptu birthday dinner" that members of the Trump family had the night before. The picture showed President Trump surrounded by Lara, Eric, Tiffany Trump, Michael Boulos, Donald Trump Jr. and Bettina Anderson. "Impromptu birthday dinner! We love you @realdonaldtrump — HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!! ♥️," Lara captioned the picture.

The president additionally received birthday wishes from his two sons. Don Jr. commemorated his dad's birthday with a picture of himself and his five kids—Kai, Donald III, Tristan, Spencer and Chloe—standing behind the president. "Happy birthday dad we love you," he wrote in the caption. Eric also posted pictures of his father, writing: "Happy Birthday Dad! 🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸."

Ivanka Trump had touching words for her father the day after his birthday. The Women Who Work author celebrated both her dad and husband, Jared Kushner, in a Father's Day tribute on social media, which read: "Happy Father’s Day 💙 Today, I honor two incredible fathers who have shaped my world in profound ways. To my father @realdonaldtrump — your unwavering determination, boundless vision, and deep love for family have been a guiding force in my life. You taught me to dream boldly, work relentlessly, and never give up To my husband @jaredkushner — watching you father our children with patience, strength, wisdom and so much heart fills me with endless gratitude. You are their rock, their compass, and their greatest gift. Thank you both for the love, laughter, and legacy you create each day. Our family is deeply blessed."
