Lauren Sanchez and Jeff Bezos are preparing for their summer wedding. The couple, who have been enjoying a long engagement, have shared the news that they're hosting a luxurious wedding in Venice, Italy, with the guest list composed of some of the world's richest celebrities and personalities. Some Venice locals have been unhappy over the choice of wedding location, sharing their complaints with posters and banners hung over different parts of the city.

Locals have posted banners and posters throughout the city, standing against Bezos and Sanchez's wedding

Over the past days, various posters and banners have been put up, with some organizations planning marches and gatherings to protest the wedding.

The Instagram account for the organization Morion Laboratorio Occupato has shared footage of the posters and the banners, including a video of a group of Venetians hanging a banner from the Bell Tower of San George.

"We hung a huge banner at the Bell Tower of San George to make Bezos and his minions understand right away that he is not welcome, neither in Venice nor anywhere else! Let’s organize his party together and make him understand that he won’t find us trying to pick up the crumbs that fall from the table of some billionaire," reads the post.

What are people protesting?

Some residents of Venice are protesting Bezos and Sanchez's three-day event, which is expected to be luxurious and to disrupt their everyday lives. The wedding is also taking place in the summer, when tourists are swarming Italy and other European cities, causing a lot of issues for residents of these places.

The organization has planned a protest this Friday, with residents opposing Bezos and Sanchez's wedding and their rumored takeover of the island of San Giorgio Maggiore, various luxury hotels, and water taxis across Venice.

The wedding is scheduled for the weekend of June 24th, with a guest list that includes the Kardashians, Eva Longoria, Katy Perry, and more.

"From the Security Decree, to the right to work and home, to the refusal of a city being shut down and mercified to celebrate the wedding of one of the most influential, richest, and most dangerous men on the planet," reads one of the social media posts.

"There's no room for oligarchs, their private parties and their dirty money."
