Ángela Aguilar has peeled back the curtain on the toll fame can take. In a powerful sit-down with veteran journalist Pati Chapoy, the 20-year-old singer didn't sugarcoat a thing. From public scrutiny to panic attacks, cooking for love, and cooking through pain, Aguilar opened up like never before.

Known for her powerhouse vocals and ranchera roots, Ángela Aguilar has never seemed anything but poised. But in this unfiltered chat, she revealed a side of her story the tabloids never show. "For me, weight has never been a big issue, I never really paid attention to it," Ángela said. "But it is important for me to be able to move my body, especially because I have joint problems. I try to stay active... but I lost around 10 kilos in just one month. It was mostly from stress and anxiety."

Despite her elegant stage presence, the singer confessed she was struggling behind the scenes, reeling from online attacks and public judgment that left her physically and mentally depleted.

The Love Story That Fueled the Fire

Much of that scrutiny centered around her relationship with fellow singer Christian Nodal. The moment they went public, the comment sections lit up, and not in a cute, heart-eyes emoji kind of way.

Ángela admits she didn't expect the backlash to be so brutal. "This was something I'd never experienced. I grew up in this world, but this time it was different, it got so negative."

Still, through the noise, her love of food has remained constant, and it's become a sweet part of her love life.

It turns out Ángela's not just talented behind the mic; she's also got a serious game in the kitchen. With culinary roots that span Mexico to Argentina, she's learned from the best. "My grandma is from Argentina, so she made gnocchi and walnut crescents," she said. "And my grandma Flor was all about Mexican food. I'd film her cooking to learn."

And like any great artist, she brings her tools on tour. "Grandma Flor always had a little grill with her, on the bus, the plane, wherever. I do the same with Christian."

Even when they moved into a new house with an empty kitchen, Ángela made it work. "I'd run to my parents' house to steal tomatoes and eggs just to make breakfast," she laughed. "That's love!"

Fame and the Fear of the Frozen Food Aisle

Not everything is so Instagram-worthy. Even something as simple as grocery shopping has become a stress trigger. "I love going to the store, but lately it's been giving me a lot of anxiety," Ángela admitted. "People record me from the aisles, not even asking for a photo, just filming me. That gave me panic attacks."

With so much pressure closing in, Ángela turned to two things that have always brought her comfort: music and therapy. "This album has brought me so much joy—it's helping me climb out of that dark place," she said. "I feel happy again."

She also credits therapy for helping her rebuild her mental foundation. "I took time for myself, pulled back, and focused on healing. Now I feel mentally safer and stronger. I think all the hits made me tougher."

Ángela Aguilar's vulnerability shows that being in the public eye doesn't make anyone bulletproof. Behind every viral headline and red-carpet photo is a real person doing their best to stay afloat. And in Ángela's case, that means cooking with love, singing through pain, and slowly reclaiming her peace.
