Meghan Markle and Prince Harry reportedly welcomed Brooklyn Beckham and his wife Nicola Peltz to their home in Montecito. According to The Sun, David Beckham and Victoria Beckham's eldest son and daughter-in-law had dinner with the Sussexes' last week amid reported tensions between the young couple and Brooklyn's parents.
“This was an unexpected invite, but one gratefully received by Brooklyn and Nicola, who both feel pretty battle-wounded," a source told The Sun. “Harry and Meghan were very empathetic and very kind to them both. Harry was fully aware of the situation and offered Brooklyn his unwavering support as someone who has been through similar."
“Nicola and Meghan also had a bit of a ‘deep n’ meaningful’ as obviously both women have been positioned in the media as home-wreckers — the women to tear apart their husbands’ families," the source added. “Meghan had a lot of sympathy for her, and said there was shared common ground. They didn’t meet in relation to recent developments and headlines, but it was an honest but very welcome coincidence.”
PEOPLE confirmed on May 14 that Brooklyn and Nicola, who did not attend David's 50th birthday celebration earlier this month, were hosted by the Duke and Duchess of Sussex. Though they are said to have not been directly invited by Meghan and Harry.
"Brooklyn and Nicola were invited prior to David’s numerous global birthday galas, so the timing is pure coincidence," a source told PEOPLE, noting that "while it was an intimate gathering, there were several additional guests, including VIPs and film executives. Brooklyn and Nicola had a wonderful time and found Harry and Meghan to be particularly kind, caring and generous."
Nicola and Brooklyn reportedly have a strained relationship with David and Victoria. A source previously told PEOPLE, "There are tensions between Brooklyn and Nicola and the family," adding, "The relationship is definitely not beyond repair. They love and are always there for him. They’re just hurt and disappointed that he’s now playing no part in family life."
A source has told HOLA! USA's sister brand HELLO! that Nicola was a source of tension between Brooklyn and his parents. "From the minute Nicola came into the family, she hasn’t shown what Victoria would say is respect towards them," the source said. "Tensions rose at their wedding and that situation has continued; Victoria and Nicola don’t really get along. Over the past few months, Nicola has been causing things to fester and everyone to fall out."
Meanwhile, sources have told TMZ that Brooklyn and Nicola are "fed up with the way" David and Victoria treat them, with one insider saying that Brooklyn and Nicola "have made themselves available for months and months to discuss all of the ongoing drama," but his parents refuse to talk with Nicola around "because she always talks back to them and stands up for Brooklyn."
Brooklyn married Nicola in 2022. Last month, the couple celebrated three years of marriage with posts on their respective Instagram accounts. "Happy 3 year anniversary baby x I love you with all my heart x I’m so lucky I get to spend everyday with you and wake up to your beautiful face everyday you are my world x I love you so much Nicola xxxxxxx ❤️," Brooklyn wrote. Nicola also marked their anniversary, writing: "happy anniversary baby! i can’t believe it’s been three years since this day - i love you with all my heart and promise to always have your back. i can’t wait for forever with you 🤍 thank you for being the most incredible husband i could ever dream of. i love you a million times over."
