Mariah Carey and Nick Cannon's twins have grown up right before our eyes. The former couple shares twins Moroccan and Monroe, who are now full-blown teenagers, turning 14. While they usually have parties, the twins took a different route this year.
After last year’s pun-filled “rock and roll” themed party - titled “Roc and Roe” - the teens declared they were now “too cool” for that kind of celebration. Instead, they opted for a spooky escape room with their friends, with Nick, the chaperone, joking that that was not his idea of birthday fun when he was 14. "What happened to amusement parks and house parties?" Nick quipped in a Reel dedicated to them.
The father of 12 reflected on how fast they've grown up in the caption, writing, "Somebody slow this thing down!!! Please!!! They didn’t even want a birthday party!! They said they are too cool for that! LOL."
The twins are still off social media but have popped up in viral videos with another famous kid, North West. They seem to be enjoying life out of the spotlight and have joined their mom on stage and tour in the past, with the singer giving them her seal of approval if they ever want to pursue an entertainment career.
Nick and Mariah: Coparenting goals
Nick and Mariah finalized their divorce in 2016, five years after welcoming the twins in 2011. Since then, they’ve been nothing short of amazing co-parents, always putting their kids first.
In 2020, Nick told Ellen DeGeneres, “It’s all about unconditional love. And knowing- because they were so young - this is what they know: They know Mommy and Daddy still love each other, but more importantly, they love us.”
Mariah hasn't had more children, but Nick has gone on to have ten more - nine of whom are living, which has made Nick's co-parenting duties more complex.
As for love lives, the Fantasy singer seems to be getting serious with Anderson .Paak, though nothing’s been confirmed. Nick has an open relationship with one of his children’s mothers, Bre Tiesi.
Still, there’s always been speculation about a possible Mariah-Nick reunion. Nick has said more than once that he’d get back together with his first wife in a heartbeat. In 2024, he joked that she’s not having it: “A whole baseball team,” he said, referring to his many kids. “Like, ‘No, you can’t come back home.’”
