The Met Gala is one month away on May 5, 2025, and this year’s guest list is more exclusive than ever, with Anna Wintour hand-selecting the perfect mix of entertainers, athletes, models, artists, and filmmakers. It's going to be a historical event with the first co-chair lineup of all Black men and the powerful theme,  "Superfine: Tailoring Black Style." The guest list is top-secret, but there have been some big names already hitting the press.

This year's theme

Superfine: Tailoring Black Style explores the profound impact Black men have had on fashion over the centuries, with a focus on the Black dandy. Inspired by Monica L. Miller’s 2009 book Slaves to Fashion: Black Dandyism and the Styling of Black Diasporic Identity," the exhibition highlights the role of sartorial style in shaping Black identities.

In the 18th century, Black men, often in the face of racial oppression, used fashion as a form of resistance and self-expression. Dandies embraced tailored suits, bold accessories, and sharp grooming, challenging societal expectations and reclaiming a sense of dignity.

Co-Chairs and "Host Committee"

As for the co-chairs, this year marks a historic first with all Black men taking the lead. Colman Domingo, Lewis Hamilton, A$AP Rocky, and Pharrell Williams are set to co-chair, with LeBron James stepping in as the honorary chair.

And to help carry the theme, a star-studded host committee has been announced, featuring athletes like Simone Biles, Jonathan Owens, Angel Reese, and Sha’Carri Richardson, filmmakers like Spike Lee, Tonya Lewis Lee, and Regina King, and musicians like Doechii, Usher, Tyla, Janelle Monáe, and André 3000.

Playwrights Jeremy O. Harris and Branden Jacobs-Jenkins are also involved, along with fashion figures like Grace Wales Bonner, Edward Enninful, Dapper Dan, and Olivier Rousteing.

This gala will be one to remember, with a guest list that spans multiple industries and a theme that celebrates Black culture’s undeniable influence on fashion. It’s going to be a night of elegance, history, and, of course, unforgettable looks.
