2025 is proving to be the year of celebrity divorces. Just one day after news broke that Sia filed for divorce from Daniel Bernad, it was revealed that Quinta Brunson has called it quits with her husband of three years, Kevin Jay Anik. The split comes just as we enter the Spring Equinox, which is all about personal growth, and leaving behind things that no longer serve you.
Known for her award-winning show Abbott Elementary, the 35-year-old artist filed a petition for divorce on Wednesday, March 19, per People. Brunson listed their date of separation as “TBD” and cited the celebrity favorite: “irreconcilable differences.” TMZ notes that Anik is a sales manager.
The outlet also reports that Brunson indicated the former couple entered into a "postnuptial agreement which governs the disposition of their property” and requested that each party be responsible for their own attorney’s fees.
Brunson confirmed their engagement in July 2020 on Instagram, sharing a diamond ring on that special finger with the caption, “More good news.”
They tied the knot a little over a year later, saying "I do" in October 2021, keeping details about the wedding private. The intimate ceremony took place in front of their closest family and friends, according to Showbiz Corner.
The former couple continued to keep their relationship private. Brunson didn't confirm he was her husband until September 2022 when she won an Emmy for Outstanding Writing for a Comedy Series.
She thanked her mom, dad, brothers, sisters, and cousins before adding, "My wonderful husband because he's the most supportive man I've ever known, and my incredible cast and show for helping me to make this show and make the pilot."
For many fans of Brunson, news that she was married in the first place came as a surprise. The Shade Room shared the news of the split, with the top-liked comment—garnering over 21K likes—reading, "Oh she kept this yt marriage QUIET." Others joked that now she can get with her on-screen Abbott Elementary love interest, Gregory, played by Tyler James Williams.
Amid news of her divorce, Brunson has been sharing photos on her IG Story from her night on Everybody’s Live with John Mulaney. She was a guest on the show alongside Richard Kind, Nick Kroll, and Ben Stiller.
