Despite rumors that the two former costars aren't on the best of terms, Blake Lively insisted that she is "so happy" about working with Anna Kendrick again as both actresses attended the premiere of Another Simple Favor on Friday.
The Gossip Girl alum attended the event along with Anna to promote their Amazon Prime Video sequel. Lively was seen talking and laughing with fans while signing autographs in an Entertainment Tonight video when she was asked about reuniting with Kendrick.
"Blake, what does it mean to be back with Anna?" a fan asked as the actress walked by. The star quickly answered, "Oh, it's the best! I'm so happy," before being whisked away to take additional photos during the premiere.
This praise from Lively comes after her costar seemingly shaded Blake's ongoing legal battle with Justin Baldoni, evading a question about the actress during the SXSW Film Festival in Austin on Friday. Lively is currently involved in an ongoing legal battle with her It Ends With Us costar, which began when she sued him for sexual assault and allegedly launching a smear campaign against her.
It was previously reported that Anna is "upset" that the drama surrounding the lawsuit is overshadowing their upcoming sequel. While on the red carpet speaking with Variety, the Pitch Perfect alum gave a vague response when asked about how the movie has been affected by "everything going on in the world."
"Why, what happened? I did ayahuasca and the last year of my life is just gone,' the star replied with a smirk. "But I've heard the movie is amazing."
Though Anna and Blake were spotted together at the premiere of Another Simple Favor at the festival, they did not take any photos of just the two of them. At one point during the festivities, the stars paused for a few photos together with director Paul Feig standing between them.
Kendrick offered another awkward response when questioned about working with Lively once again on their sequel. In a now-viral video shared to X, Anna was filmed happily greeting fans outside of the event when one supporter asked the actress, "What does it mean to be working with Blake again?"
Anna simply replied with, "Oh, you know...," before walking away and taking selfies with others instead of further elaborating on the answer. Despite Blake's positive words about Anna, Kendrick's response has further fueled speculation of a feud between the two stars.
Blake and Anna reunited for the highly anticipated sequel to their 2018 film, A Simple Favor, which is slated to officially release later this year on May 1. Other cast members include Henry Golding, Andrew Rannells, Bashir Salahuddin, Michele Morrone, Allison Janey, and Elena Sofia Ricci.
