During her husband President Donald Trump's first term, Melania announced plans to restore and enhance the White House Rose Garden. “The very act of planting a garden involves hard work and hope in the possibility of a bright future,” the first lady said in 2020. “Preserving the history and beauty of the White House and its grounds is a testament to our nation’s commitment to the care of this landscape and our dedication to American ideals, safeguarding them for our children and their children for generations to come.”

There is much to learn about the American Presidency, the First Families who have lived here, and our Nation’s rich history from a firsthand experience at the White House. This opportunity is unique among nations around the globe—a tradition we are honored to continue for the hundreds of thousands of visitors who come each year."
