Shakira and Gloria Estefan's friendship:

Gloria Estefan has shared her support for Shakira throughout her career. In recent years, she sent her a message following her split from Gerard Piqué. “In a separation, the children are the most affected, and I know that everyone is talking about this, but it is part of the fame,” she said, as reported in Spanish by El Universal.

Meanwhile, Emilio Estefan said: “I have a very nice relationship with her, and what Shakira is going through makes me sad.” Gloria also fought hard for Shakira at the start of her career.

During an episode of 'Oprah’s Next Chapter,' the singer detailed how she fought label executives to release Shakira's first English-language album.

“They wanted her just to throw a couple of songs in English on a Latin record and I fought hard. I said, ‘Listen. This is her shot. You can’t do it halfway, you know?” Estefan said in the episode. “An American audience is not gonna get a record that’s mostly Spanish because there’s a couple of English cuts on it. They’re gonna want to hear the whole thing. This is gonna work. I fought hard for her. Fought hard. And she sold like 13 million of that album.”
