Family drama is always sad to watch, especially when it's happening in public. Trinity Rodman and her father, Dennis Rodman, have been responding to each other on Instagram after her recent interview on Call Her Daddy. The Olympic Gold medalist said Dennis was not there for her family emotionally or financially, revealing they were at one point living in a car.
Dennis Rodman's apology
Dennis responded to the interview by sharing a video of a photo album of him with Trinity and her brother DJ over the years. "Sorry I wasn’t the Dad you wanted me to be but either way I still tried and I still Try and Never will Stop. I will keep Trying " he wrote in the caption, "even when you’re being told as an adult not to respond to my phone calls."
There has always been a rumor that Dennis does not own or regularly use a cell phone, which is something Trinity confirmed in the interview. The 22-year-old said he always calls from random numbers, most recently from Texas. Despite this, the 63-year-old claimed Trinity has his phone number, and wishes she would see him. "I always had one wish and it was I wish my kids would call me and come see me. Hopefully one day I can get that. I’m here and I’m still trying pick up the phone you have my number, You see me calling," he wrote.
"I will try even when it’s difficult and if it takes a long time. I’m always here And tell you all the time rather it’s your voice or voicemail how proud I am," the father of 3 continued. Rodman also claimed he watches her play "All the time" and even flew in once to see her but was told he couldn't go in because of who he was with and watched her from his hotel balcony.
Trinity Rodman's response to Dennis
One of the main points Trinity made during her interview was that she believed Dennis did things, like attending the Spirit's playoffs quarterfinal match against the North Carolina Courage for "selfish" attention-seeking reasons.
The post did not make Trinity feel better and seemed to prove his point. She reposted the Just Women Sports Instagram account that had his apology on her story saying she was "done." "A joke. The response alone. And the attention. Wiping my hands with it I'm done. Thank you" she wrote with a thumbs up emoji.
It wasn't just Trinity who didn't like his post. Most of the top-liked comments are defending her. "Never posted his kids but the moment they speak up on a big platform you post them. You’re proving exactly what she said LOL," one person wrote.
"Nah. This ain't it. You're low-key blaming her and the people around her for your bad relationship. Don't do that. Don't do this on social media either. Delete this and go see your daughter. But ask first," another person added.
In the interview, Trinity said she answers his calls in case anything happens to him. "I answer the phone now for my conscience like if something does happen - God forbid - I wanna know that I did that or if he needed to hear my voice before anything happens like that’s why I answer the phone - not for me. But then I answer the phone, and I have that conversation, and I hear the way he’s talking and how gone and drunk he is, and I’m just like, that was horrible," she said.
After her post, it doesn't seem like she will be answering them in the future.
