Kate Middleton will be stepping out for her final gala dinner of the year. The event will take place at a State Banquet at Windsor Castle, hosted by King Charles and Queen Camilla in honor of German President Frank-Walter Steinmeier and First Lady Elke Büdenbender, who are on a state visit to the United Kingdom.
This promises to be one of the highlight evenings of 2025, featuring speeches from both the British monarch and the German president. It will be another occasion for the Princess of Wales to command the spotlight. With just hours to go until the event, we revisit the other two gala dinners she attended in 2025.
The first State Banquet Kate Middleton attended in 2025 took place last July, welcoming President Emmanuel Macron and First Lady Brigitte Macron at Windsor Castle. It was the perfect stage for the Princess’s highly anticipated return.
She looked stunning in red, wearing a silk Sarah Burton gown for Givenchy, and sporting Diana’s favorite tiara, the Cambridge Lover’s Knot, the piece with the highest institutional significance accessible to her.
This tiara defines her role as Princess of Wales. A neoclassical design of diamonds and pear-shaped pearls originally made for Queen Mary of Teck, Charles III’s great-grandmother, it became Diana’s most-worn tiara and is now Kate’s favorite as well.
Kate’s second high-profile dinner of the year was the most talked-about. In September, she appeared sublime in a floral lace gown, once again wearing Diana’s tiara, for a State Banquet in honor of U.S. President Donald Trump and First Lady Melania.
She complemented the look with cluster diamond earrings and a central piece featuring a gradient of diamonds from Queen Elizabeth II’s collection.
The Princess left such an impression that President Trump could only offer praise, “Seeing Her Royal Highness, Princess Kate, so radiant, so healthy, so beautiful. It’s a great honor,” he said.
We'll see whether Kate Middleton will once again choose Princess Diana’s tiara for this important evening and which symbolic, likely priceless, jewels she will select for the last major dinner at Windsor Castle of the year.
