For modern European royals, influence is no longer just about duty and diplomacy, it’s also about style. And in the Netherlands, three young women are redefining what it means to be a royal in the public eye.

Their wardrobes reflect a balance between protocol and personality, and they have quietly become muses for a new generation. Let’s take a closer look at how each sister is carving her own niche in the world of royal fashion.

Amalia of the Netherlands:

As the future queen, Princess Amalia’s wardrobe leans into the expectations of her role, refined, composed, and classically elegant. In official appearances, she gravitates toward tailored midi dresses, structured suits, and long coats in neutral tones like navy, beige, and black.

Occasionally, she surprises with rich jewel tones, such as emerald or deep burgundy, offering a subtle nod to modernity without stepping outside protocol.

Amalia also knows how to dress down with style.

But beyond formalwear, Amalia also knows how to dress down with style. In family portraits and informal outings, she opts for relaxed but polished looks, like wide-leg jeans, poplin shirts, and ballet flats or even sneakers. Her favorites are brands like Massimo Dutti, Zara, and Mango, which make regular appearances in her wardrobe.

Alexia of the Netherlands:

If Amalia is the embodiment of regal tradition, Alexia is the royal rebel with impeccable taste. At just 20, she has emerged as one of the most stylish young royals in Europe, unafraid to experiment and embrace fashion as a form of self-expression.

At official events like Prinsjesdag (Prince’s Day), she often turns heads with bold choices. This year, she wore a dramatic asymmetrical gown in aubergine, paired unexpectedly with gold raffia wedges, an unconventional yet striking combination that captured her adventurous spirit.

Her everyday style mirrors her independent streak. Living abroad has only expanded her fashion horizons, with chic Parisian influences from Sandro, Maje, Ba&sh, and familiar high-street labels like Zara.

Ariane of the Netherlands:

Youngest of the three, 18-year-old Princess Ariane brings a quiet, natural charm to royal style. Still discovering her voice, her fashion choices are grounded in simplicity and ease, a reflection of her personality and youth.

Off-duty, her wardrobe embraces comfort. Shirt dresses, linen trousers, and knit vests are staples, many from accessible labels like Mango and H&M. Her style may be understated, but it never lacks intention. She’s even shared wardrobe pieces with her sisters, including the striped vest-and-trouser set borrowed by Amalia during a visit to New York.
