Baby's first National Day! Princess Sofia and Prince Carl Philip of Sweden were joined by their four-month-old daughter Princess Ines as they opened the Royal Palace's southern gates and welcomed the public into the inner courtyard on Sweden's National Day, June 6.
"How nice that so many of you have come here today! Being able to gather here on Sweden's National Day means a lot to my family and me," the Prince said in his speech at the opening (translated to English).
Sofia held her baby girl as she and Carl Philip greeted visitors on Friday. The baby Princess looked adorable wearing the traditional Swedish national dress, along with her mother.
Ines' latest appearance came one week before her baptism. Sofia and Carl Philip's daughter is set to be baptized on Friday, June 13. The baptism will take place at Drottningholm Palace Chapel, followed by a reception for invited guests and a private lunch.
The royal baby's baptism will coincide with her parents' tenth wedding anniversary. Sofia and Carl Philip tied the knot on June 13, 2015 at the Royal Chapel. "I don’t think I knew the magic of love before I met Sofia," King Carl XVI Gustaf and Queen Silvia's son told Swedish channel TV 4 ahead of their wedding (via HOLA! USA's sister brand HELLO! ). "But ever since I met her, I’ve seen how love can change a person."
The Prince and Princess have welcomed four children over the course of the last ten years: Prince Alexander, 9, Prince Gabriel, 7, Prince Julian, 4, and Princess Ines. Following the birth of their fourth child this past February, Carl Philip said (translated to English), "We are happy to welcome our newborn daughter into the world," adding, "The big brothers are now looking forward to getting to know their new little sister."
Months before her daughter's arrival, Sofia admitted to Vogue Scandinavia that she "always, always, always dreamt of a family." The Princess said, "It’s one of my biggest goals in life. Not everyone has that – I had that."
“Both me and my husband come from a family of five – with three kids – so we thought that that would be a good number, and we felt quite satisfied with that," Sofia continued. "But, gratefully, there’s a bonus on the way. We feel very humble and grateful. It was maybe not in the plan, but now we are very, very excited. Especially the kids.”
