Princess Maria Carolina of Bourbon Two Sicilies is counting her blessings after being involved in a motorcycle accident. The 21 year old shared photos of herself in a hospital on Wednesday, revealing that she had crashed "headfirst" into a wall.

"I’m incredibly lucky to be alive. I crashed headfirst into a wall whilst riding a motorcycle and ended up in reanimation in the Intensive Care Unit," she wrote alongside the pictures. "Surviving this was nothing short of a miracle. I wanted to share my own experience as I’ve realized now more than ever that motorcycles are powerful and thrilling but also unforgiving."

The Italian-born Princess urged her followers to "please ride with care" and to "wear full protection, especially a proper helmet." She noted, "Mine saved my life."

The Princess added, "My deepest thanks to the outstanding team at Centre Hospitalier Princesse Grace for their expert care during those critical days, and to the emergency medical team and first responders on the scene, whose quick and decisive actions in those first moments made all the difference 🙏🏼."

Two days before opening up about her accident, the Princess posted a recap from her "Grand Prix weekend" in Monaco. Her younger sister Princess Maria Chiara of Bourbon Two Sicilies also shared a carousel of pictures on May 26, which she captioned:  "Snapshots from this weekend during the iconic @f1 Monaco GP 🚁🤍."

Earlier this month, the Princesses were in Cannes for the 78th annual Cannes Film Festival, where they hit the red carpet together. "An incredible honor to walk the red carpet at the 2025 Cannes Film Festival opening ceremony ❤️," Princess Maria Carolina wrote on Instagram on May 15. She later shared additional pictures from Cannes, writing: "Cannes 2025 camera roll 📸🎞️."

Princess Maria Carolina is Princess Camilla and Prince Charles of Bourbon Two Sicilies' older daughter. According to her mother's website, Princess Maria Carolina "used to follow the International Cambridge Educational system and the CNED course under strict supervision and control of the Department of Education of Monaco before graduating in March 2020." She and her sister Princess Maria Chiara were both born in Rome and live between Paris, Monte Carlo and the capital of Italy. Their father is the head of the Royal House of Bourbon Two Sicilies, the "family who reigned over the South of Italy for over 150 years."
