Gary Fisher was known for being Carrie Fisher's most loyal companion. The star's adorable French bulldog sadly passed away on January 30, right before his 13th birthday. The actress and the pup had a special connection, as he was Carrie's emotional support dog and helped her manage her bipolar disorder.

"Gary is like my heart," the actress told the Herald Tribute in 2015. "Gary is very devoted to me, and that calms me down. He's anxious when he's away from me," she explained. In 2016, Gary was there for Carrie during her health struggles and stayed with her at the hospital until her death day four days later.

Gary was initially Billie Lourd's pup. However, Carrie decided to adopt him from her daughter. "I live for Gary," Carrie's daughter told Today in 2016.  "He was mine first, and she actually stole him from me because she fell in love with him."

"It has been a very hard 2 days without him. He was such an amazing lil fur baby to me, his fans, friends, and the joy he brought will be irreplaceable," the new owner continued. "The first 5 years with Carrie and Gary were amazing and when she left us Gary and I continued on for the next 8 years. He never left my side and he was truly my best friend. His heavenly birthday is in 3 weeks and he would've turned 13."

Gary was also an icon for fans of the actress and fans of Star Wars, who shared their memories after the death of the pup. "Playing with him outside the Chinese Theatre after watching The Last Jedi when he was wearing his cute wee X-wing pilot outfit was cathartic and a memory I truly cherish," one fan wrote, while someone else added, "Gary was such a bright light just like his mom, we love you so much Gary and always will."
