Born and raised in Miami to Colombian and Brazilian parents, Tefi Pessoa has become one of the most magnetic voices in pop culture and digital media. With her trademark wit, warmth, and honest storytelling, Tefi has built a career that lies beyond viral internet commentary, red carpet appearances, advice columns, and podcasting.

Born Estefania Vanegas Pessoa, known by her legion of followers simply as Tefi, the social media creator is a common sight online, no matter your social media app of preference. Over the past years, Tefi has starred in fashion and beauty campaigns and has led various digital series to great success. Her meteoric rise didn't come from chasing fame; it came from being herself.

“I feel like it is my responsibility to fill up every room with as much Latin joy as possible.”

Tefi’s ability to turn everyday moments into universal truths has earned her a devoted online following. Her signature series of pop-culture deep dives are a masterclass in comedy, heart, and cultural analysis, with her sharing her thoughts on everyday news items and developments with personal stories and quips.

She currently hosts her own podcast, "Tefi Talks" with Vox Media, and writes the hit advice column "Ask Tefi" for The Cut. In 2025, she was honored among TIME’s inaugural Top Creators and Rolling Stone’s Most Influential Creators Right Now. Last year, she was selected as one of TIME’s Latino Leaders.

Despite her rise to fame, Tefi has stayed close to her roots and grounded in what matters most to her. “I'm first generation, I can be both, I can be Latin and American, and if I'm gonna be both, I want you to know it and I want other people who look like me, who talk like me, who speak Spanish, and who don't speak Spanish, to know that we have the right to dream.”

Growing up in Miami, Tefi was surrounded by a rich Latin community, a characteristic that shaped her personality, humor, voice, and values.

“For 22 years before I left Miami, every person who fed me, who took care of me, who was there for me was a Latin person," she said. “It's the idea of having things as an inside joke, my inside joke is your inside joke, that's how I face the world.”

Tefi’s digital presence is more than content that's designed to go viral and to generate likes. Her videos and scripts are built upon connection. Whether she’s dissecting celebrity drama, offering dating advice, or reflecting on identity, Tefi shares content that's calibrated with the perfect blend of humor, vulnerability, and intention, all shared with the intimacy of a conversation with a close friend.

“I think being from Latin America, we might not be from the same country but we all came to this country for similar reasons, whether it is opportunities, safety, a fresh start, or whatever it may be, I feel there's that underlying language of ‘I'm so happy you made it here, I'm so happy you're here with us.’”

Tefi’s content, from long-form commentary to bite-sized wisdom, has helped cultivate a loyal audience that's emotionally invested in what she has to say. Through hard work and dedication, she's created a safe space, especially for young Latin viewers who see themselves and their stories reflected in her.

As someone who grew up immersed in American pop culture while staying deeply connected to her Latin roots, Tefi makes a point of sharing that duality with her audience. “Today's generation is very lucky,” she said. “When I was growing up, there were very few mainstream Latin artists on American radio. If you ask my mom, dad, or grandparents what they were listening to in the eighties, the answer would be Madonna.”

"Today, people can say, 'I listened to Bad Bunny when I was a teenager.' I had Madonna, I had Pat Benatar, I had Fleetwood Mac, so that's something that I wish people understood," she continued. "My pop culture lens is from an immigrant perspective of people who only listened to American music."

So what’s next for Tefi Pessoa? Real influence and lasting impact. With every platform she touches, Tefi proves that representation, joy, and authenticity are not just passing trends. “I'm manifesting longevity in this career," she declared. "I'm manifesting real influence.”
