Jessica Alba loves to cook, and while fans have loved her recipes in the past, her latest video has caused a stir. On Tuesday, the Honey star shared a video making "her version of pozole." And while she said right at the start it was her take on the soup, people still came for her in the comments.
Traditional pozole usually has a green or red salsa using peppers, and you wouldn't find zucchini and mushrooms, or vegetables cooked into the stew.
While Alba has millions of fans, they weren't shy when it came to the criticism, "Jessica, I love you, but it’s giving Rachel Ray," read one of the top-liked comments.
"It's a chicken broth, and that's it... de pozole has nothing," "Definitely not Foos Gone Wild worthy. This looks good, but not pozole. More chicken soup. :)," "That's not pozole - Mexican offended. It's just chicken broth with vegetables," others wrote.
There are also many hilarious GIFs people are using in the comments. Still, some people thought it looked delicious and praised the recipe. While the internet may not approve of her soup, her son Hayes, whom she shares with ex-husband Cash Warren, made an appearance in the clip and looked very excited with his dinner.
How to make Alba's pozole
Alba may have changed some ingredients, but it was a dish that took hours to make, and seemed a lot healthier with hidden vegetables if you want to feed some kids. She started by simmering a full chicken in a hot pot for five hours to create a rich bone broth. There were also tomatoes cooking with the chicken inside the pot.
She then sautéed chopped celery and carrots before moving on to the sauce. She blended tomatillos, bunches of cilantro, and the tomatoes that cooked slowly with the broth and mild green chiles.
The entire shredded chicken went in next, and she simmered it with hominy, zucchini, and mushrooms. When she served the soup, she topped it off with cabbage, lime, and avocado, and had a bowl of tortilla chips nearby to make the perfect meal.
