October 3, 2025, will go down in history as a monumental day for Luxembourg: the abdication of His Royal Highness Grand Duke Henri, who passed the baton to his eldest son. From now on, Prince Guillaume will be the new Grand Duke alongside his wife, Countess Stéphanie de Lannoy.
The Dutch Royal Family did not miss the occasion, with Queen Máxima arriving impeccable in a camel and olive green combination, once again nailing her style after her marathon trips to Occitania and Roermond.
A midi cape and diamonds
Máxima stood out for her elegance upon arriving at the Grand Ducal Palace, the official residence of the Grand Duke of Luxembourg, where a new era begins for the European country. She wore a midi dress with a flared skirt, a slim belt featuring a central diamond jewel, and a raised bow detail at the neck.
Her floral brooch was first worn by Queen Wilhelmina in 1898, who also wore it as a bracelet.
Yet the star of the exterior photos was the camel-toned cape coat, buttoned on one side with a central zipper, designed by Danish couturier Claes Iversen. Equally elegant and practical for the mid-season, the piece was one she had previously worn in Amsterdam in November 2019.
Another impeccable detail of her outfit: olive-green leather gloves that left the wrist bare, a lead-gray clutch adorned with metallic pearls, and the Gianvito Rossi Gianvito 105 Pumps.
Side-parted bun and natural makeup
For her beauty look, Máxima opted for an Italian updo with a side part and slightly teased roots to add volume.
Her daytime makeup remained natural, highlighting her eyes with a subtle smoky touch at the outer corners to define the shape and emphasize their color.
The outing comes weeks after Princess Amalia and Queen Máxima had a trip to New York to attend the UN's 80th General Assembly, where they joined other Kings and Queens, along with the most prominent world leaders discuss the challenges that are facing their nations. The Princess and the Queen stopped by the Plaza Hotel to meet up with some of the leading figures from various industries and nations, including Bill Gates.
Photographers captured them as they walked through New York's most emblematic locations, including Times Square, surrounded by their security, crowds, yellow cabs, neon screens, and more.
Their NYC trip marked the start of various official trips for the Princess, including the abdication ceremony of Henri, the Grand Duke of Luxembourg.
